CLINICIANS
KIMBERLY MOFFIT
Kimberly is a professional psychotherapist and doctoral student, working with both adults and children in one-on-one psychotherapy. Kimberly’s training in music therapy and psychotherapy began with a Master's Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Here, her SSHRC funded research studied the relationship between music and the psychotherapeutic process while working with adolescents in an Ontario high school. Her own experiences as a professional musician contributed to her desire to study music and its interaction with the brain. Kim is currently a doctoral student at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC), London. Here, she is studying concepts of Existential Psychotherapy and how these are applied to therapeutic situations. In future research, she seeks to draw connections between existential therapy and music-centred psychotherapy. Kimberly’s practical work has extended throughout her entire graduate career, and has encompassed work with stress management, anxiety, depression, mental health during a CAMH internship, and autism. In 2008, she founded Toronto Music Psychotherapy, a private practice specializing in the assessment and treatment of children with autism.
